The CAMS 2017 Victorian State Circuit Racing Championships Round 2 is scheduled at Phillip Island on the weekend of May 6 & 7 with an expected entry of over 200 cars. This enduring and premier Australian State Championship Series has entered its 20th year as a championship at Australia’s Most Picturesque Circuit and for the first time in nine years is not the first round of the season.
This year features all the usual and exciting state categories including Improved Production, Formula Ford, Formula Ford 1600, Formula Vee, HQ Holdens, Sports Sedans, Sports Cars, Porsche 944, Saloon Cars, Historic Touring Cars and an avalanche of Hyundai Excels, all of which have CAMS Victorian Championship status this year, with only the MG and British Sports Cars being ineligible for a championship.
Action a plenty is assured from 9.00am to 5.00 pm daily, with family friendly admission unchanged with Adults weekend passes a mere $30.00, Sunday only $25.00, Saturday $20.00 and kids under 16 admitted free all weekend.
This meeting is the first of 5 race meetings being promoted by PIARC (Phillip Island Auto Racing Club) in 2017, and one of 9 for the year with Club involvement.
PIARC spokesman Geoff Bull says the club is hoping for almost 50 entries each for both the Excels and Improved Production Categories. These categories continue to blow us away with their great popularity with both competitors and enthusiast spectators.
Also the popular Saloon Cars have been working hard at increasing their entries for this their second year since gaining official series status in 2016 and heading towards their Nationals scheduled for Island Magic 2017 on November 25th and 26th.
It is also round 2 of 5 for CAMS Victorian State Circuit Racing Championships being conducted as usual at both Phillip Island and Sandown throughout the year and also in June at the Winton circuit near Benalla.
